Welcome to the transformational ceremony of crafting your own animal skin medicine drum.
This ceremony is a journey within the shamanic cosmology of the Four Winds which is a map of sorts to our awakening – and the many tests challenges and skills we meet along the way. The teachings being shared are to help you better appreciate your private walk with Spirit and the gifts we each carry.
There will be a great opportunity to reorganise parts of your inner world seeking re-alignment.
The spirit of the medicine drum was sent into our world to help humanity grow into a higher level of self-awareness – to help our mind come to rest within our heart. The drum brings grounding calmness and deep healing. It also helps us move and sing and breath and circulate our energy field so we experience more lightness of being.
Each stage of the crafting process is significant and governed by the wisdoms of the Four Sacred Fires, it is a fascinating journey watching the way we relate (or don’t) to the spiritual teachings afoot within the ceremony. We are learning through this process to get to know ourselves better and to return to a loving stable and balanced relationship with Mother Earth. This ancient tool of power connects us into the nourishment and safety of Mother Earth and the spiritual guidance and support all around us.
This is a big ceremony, please be prepared and bring your stamina! It is also beneficial to have your intentions clear and arrive with an open heart and mind to the process that awaits.
Your frame is hand made by Bastian specifically for you - there are many different frame shapes to choose from and sizes. The frames are hand made from Cedar and carry the energies of your personal Ancestors. Bastian makes your frame with intention and connection to your kin and shares any ancestral communication or healing that is given to her during its construction.
There is much loving work and preparation done long before you arrive at the crafting ceremony. And over the day you will pour your energy, love and presence into the making of this beautiful being. A new friend and teacher to take home and empower your life with more passion and purpose.
A little about me: I’ve been working with drums for over 20yrs and practicing shamanism and healing for 30yrs. I love being able to share and experience with others this collective REMEMBERING journey we are in the process of. My passion is found in keeping the old ways, traditional practices & teachings alive and shared for future generations to have stable and trustworthy ground to stand on. It is a strong calling of mine to foster greater connection and communion with Mother Earth/Mother Life so we can all live in perfect love and perfect trust.

Drum makers choose from Kangaroo Deer (if available) or Goat skin.
All animal skin drums require some warming when the weather is wet humid or cold as the skin absorbs the moisture in the atmosphere and it expands making the skin slightly loose on the frame. Usually, heating will take no more than 5mins.
Drum makers choose their personal drum frame shape: 18 sided (round), 7 sided, 8 sided, 9 sided, 12 sided, 13 sided, 16 sided. Further information regarding drum frame shape and size will be given upon registration.
Drum skins can be dyed in variety of colours in vegetable dyes if desired (n.b colouring is an additional $30).

Usui Shiki Ryoho, also known as the Usui Method of Natural Healing or Usui Reiki, is a traditional Japanese healing practice founded in the early 20th century. This practice recognises and honours the Spiritual Lineage of Mikao Usui, Chujiro Hayashi, Hawayo Takata, Phyllis Lei Furumoto and Johannes Reindl.
The Path of Reiki is about Satori, a Japanese word meaning enlightenment. This is usually a gradual movement towards more awareness, more balance, and more Spirit.
Living Reiki is about putting a focus on greater calm and happiness throughout the day.
It is learning to cultivate a more loving, compassionate and peaceful approach to ourselves, others, and life situations.
This practice is taught and passed on in the form of Oral Tradition: that is, the student and master are together in person for the class experience. There is a unique quality to this meeting that can only happen in person-to-person contact, where ritual or sacred space is created. Through the medium of story, demonstration, initiation, sharing, and responding to questions, the essence of the practice is communicated.
Students experience directly through practice the interconnectedness of being and awaken to the experience of a much greater reality beyond what is commonly known.
Each student has the right to his or her own personal practice and relationship to the energy of Reiki and the system of practice.

Your Teacher is Bastian McPhee, a qualified Master Teacher of twenty years' experience.
This is an eight-week experiential training program connecting to the shamanic drum as a tutelary spirit known as Wind Horse.

The Power of Intention When Working with a Shamanic Rattle
When I pick up my shamanic rattle, the very first thing is to come into intention. In this work, intention is the bedrock of all practices—it’s the heartbeat of everything.
Every shake, every vibration, carries the energy I pour into it. If I’m calling in healing, I let that desire flow through my hands and into the sound.
When my mind and heart are aligned with what I’m asking for, the rattle becomes more than an instrument. It becomes a channel. The space around shifts, softens, and opens, making room for healing to take root.
Clearing Stagnant Energy
One of the things I love most about using a rattle is how quickly it clears stagnant energy. As it moves through the air, I can feel the sound breaking up heaviness.
During healing sessions, this clearing is essential. Emotional blockages can cling tightly, and the rattle helps loosen what’s ready to move. It creates space for breath, for release, for renewal.
Inviting Spirit Guides
I often use my rattle to call in my Ancestors & guides. There’s something ancient and familiar about the way the sound reaches into the unseen. When my intention is clear and my heart is open, I can feel the energy shift as the presence of my Helpers arrive.
The rattle becomes a bridge—one that connects me to the wisdom and support that isn’t visible but is always present. The insights that come through in these moments often illuminate exactly what needs attention.
Supporting Shamanic Journeying
During journeying, the rattle becomes my compass. Its rhythm helps me slip into altered states of consciousness and stay connected to the path I’m traveling. The steady beat keeps me grounded, like having a guide who walks beside me, keeping pace, helping me navigate the inner terrain.
Amplifying Intentions for Healing and Transformation
Whether I’m working with someone else or doing my own inner work, the rattle amplifies whatever intention is present. It strengthens the energy we’re calling in and helps anchor it into the space. It helps generate an energetic field of support that everyone can feel and lean into.
The Divine Mother sets us right, She sets all things right. We come to Her for assistance with our lives and to increase our spiritual power so that we may share good energy with others.
A devotional circle is a gathering to express love and gratitude, as well as a place for women to come and make the necessary prayers and offerings so that ourselves, our families and communities can stay healthy and in harmony.
Maa Kali is a universal power beyond this world, a life-giving force that expediates liberation, supremely purifying all that is not of love and light within us and around us.
This circle is dedicated to Maa Kali and the purification of all negativities. This monthly gathering is a space to let-go of that which no longer serves and make room for more inner light and power.
Each month we will work with a specific Element and learn a purification practice.
This is an opportunity to step within the auspicious protection of Goddess Kali and create your own daily connection and devotional practice with Her.
